NLRA Posting Notice Requirement Delayed

    October 7, 2011

The National labor Relations Board (NLRB) has postponed implementation of its regulation which requires most private sector employers to post a notice informing employees of their rights to join a union.

Originally set to take effect November 14, 2011, the poster’s new implementation date will be January 31, 2012, to “allow for enhanced education and outreach to employers, particularly those who operate small and medium sized businesses,” according to an NLRB news release.

Please note that this announcement does not impact the current requirement that certain federal contractors must post National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) employee rights in their workplaces. That requirement was established by President Obama’s Executive Order signed on January 30, 2009.
